Nadja Graham, MA, RCC
ADHD Therapist
Nadja is an experienced and compassionate counsellor with over 15 years of experience working with youth, families, and individuals with ADHD. She offers a unique and comprehensive approach to treating ADHD, recognizing that it affects various aspects of an individual's life, including relationships, education, and vocation. Nadja combines executive functioning coaching and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) counseling to provide effective and personalized support for individuals facing ADHD challenges.
Nadja's approach acknowledges that ADHD impacts not only attention and hyperactivity but also executive functioning skills. Executive functioning refers to a set of mental skills that help us plan, organize, and complete tasks. Similar to a manager in a company, executive functioning helps us prioritize tasks, set goals, and stay on track. Through coaching, Nadja collaborates with youth and adults to identify their or their executive functioning challenges and develop practical strategies to overcome them. She also works with parents of children with ADHD, providing them with an executive function assessment of their child's strengths and weaknesses, as well as suggesting strategies to support their child's development.
In addition to coaching, Nadja integrates cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques into her treatment approach. CBT helps youth and adults with ADHD identify and modify unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors that may contribute to life challenges and difficulties in managing symptoms. By addressing negative thought patterns and implementing positive coping strategies, clients can gain greater control over their ADHD symptoms and improve their overall well-being.
In her practice, Nadja also incorporates mindfulness. She educates clients about the benefits of mindfulness and its potential impact on their ADHD symptoms. Through various mindfulness exercises, Nadja guides clients to cultivate present-moment awareness and develop a greater sense of self-regulation.
Nadja understands that everyone's journey with ADHD is different. She employs a client-centered, holistic, and evidence-based approach, tailoring treatment plans to meet the unique needs and goals of each individual. By creating a safe and non-judgmental space, she supports clients in openly discussing and exploring their specific challenges and strengths. Working collaboratively, she helps clients develop skills and strategies to unlock their full potential and thrive.
